The BWSD Java Applet Library
Welcome to the BWSD Java Applet Library. Java, developed by Sun Microsystems, is "a simple, object-oriented, distributed, interpreted, robust, secure, architecture-neutral, portable, high-performance, multithreaded, dynamic, general-purpose programming language". Java supports programming for the Internet in the form of platform-independent Java applets.

Java applets provide Internet sites with a huge range of new functionality: animation, live updating, two-way interaction, and more. Java applets allow cross-platform programmability and can be embedded right into HTML pages. Java brings zest and appeal to an otherwise dull and listless web site.

The following resources are provided as part of the Java Applet library:

JavaScript Library
Chat Applets
Banner Applets
Classic Applets
Other Java Resources
Java Compilers and Java Virtual Machine

DISCLAIMER: The Java applets included in this library were all developed by outside parties. If you encounter a bug in one of the applets included in the BWSD Java Applet Library, please report the bug to the applet's author rather than the BWSD Technical Support Staff.

Other Java Resources
The small collection of Java applets contained in the BWSD Java Applet Library is by no means the "be all, end all" Java Applet Library. The are innumerable Java applets available, many are freeware and some are shareware, that can enhance your web content. Please find below a sampling of Java Applet Libraries available.

Java Compilers and Java Virtual Machine
Java applets are platform-independent, therefore the BWSD Virtual Server System is quite capable of supporting pre-compiled Java classes. BWSD also provides its clients with a Java Bytecode Compiler, a Java Virtual Machine (Interpreter) and "Just-In-Time" Compiler, as well as toba - a Java Native or "Way Ahead of Time" Compiler. Detailed information about using these Java tools is included in the Java Compilers and the Java Virtual Machine Server Extensions section of the BWSD Web Site.
